A basic tuning app like you might use for a guitar won't do the job correctly on a piano. Proper tuning software is able to calculate the length of the strings on your specific instrument using harmonics and overtones, and then tune the full range of notes from A0 to C8. Basic tuning apps tend to make the piano out of tune as you move away from the center. Using correct tools and technique also helps to keep the pins tight and the tuning more stable.
It is typically recommended that you have your piano tuned about once or twice a year, depending on what it is used for and how often. The changing seasons and humidity can affect pitch by as much as 5%. Having the piano tuned regularly means the strings won't have to be stretched as much each time work is done on it.
My name is Kevin Stauffer and I've been tuning pianos professionally since 2023. I'm working towards a certification as a piano technician, and for now my primary service is just making your piano sound great and in tune!

A basic tuning is $120. It takes about two hours, more or less depending on how much work is needed. I prefer Venmo, but I accept cash (I don't carry change).
A lot of basic stuff I can do just while already having the piano open for tuning, like fixing a rattling sound by pulling a coin out from under a key. But if there's additional time you'd like me to spend on a problem we can discuss the work and pricing.
Thank you!
